This lecture is the last for Software Modeling and Analysis. Today we finish up some odds and ends, discuss a very large distributed system, and think about what is next.
  1. The Syllabus describes topics to be covered, reading material for you to digest before coming to class, and due dates for the assigned projects.
  2. Project #5
  3. Midterm Makeup Exam - due December 12th, 2008
This is a take home make up examination. You are required to do two things:
    1. Review your exam solution, and, for each question, describe what was wrong with your answer, if anything. Please do not feedback my solutions.
    2. Complete the Makeup Examination, linked above.
If you complete these two tasks nearly flawlessly, your midterm grade will be raised to an 85, but no higher. You may ask any question you wish about the examination. The TA and I will give clear answers about how to tackle the problem in question.
  4. Software Architecture Taxonomy
  5. Project Center Use Cases
  6. What a Software Architect does
  7. The Ulitmate Distributed System Architecture
  8. Questions about Project #5 ?
  9. Microsoft comparison between Remoting and Web Services
  10. Performance of Dynamic Invocations
  11. Message-Passing Communication Analysis (student project)
  12. Application Domain details
  13. Software Design
  14. Microsoft Research - Futures Concurrency
  15. What Next? - Review of Spring courses.
  16. Help with Project #5
  17. Lecture #14 folder contains a page of links to presentations and code discussed in this class. The Lecture folders will occasionally hold physical files of interest as well. Usually, however, all the materials of interest to the class are in the presentations and code folders. The contents of these folders will grow as you progress through the course.
