Dear Sir, I apologize for replying a little late. Bloomberg's RnD department (it's entire programming section) comprises of about 1300 programmers. Unfortunately, "the Bloomberg Software" that our clients use was developed about over 20 years ago mostly in Fortran and then C. This was due to the fact that back in the day, Fortran was the best choice of language for Buisiness Logic. Having said this, Bloomberg is going through a "mini-revolution" where we are trying to migrate from Fortran and C to C++, in that critical Fortran code affecting daily trading at the exchange is left untouched but all new developement is being done in C and C++. My group is called the "Trading Systems/STP Feeds" group and I am in a subgroup that built an internal "workflow engine" which in essence, as my Manager's Manager put it, is an "internal product" that can be reconfigured to let other subgroups use it. It's a framework that uses an XML configuration file and that accepts incoming data and dispatches these data as activities. Though I joined at a time when most of it is done, this is still being enhanced. Right now I am working on the serialization of generic clases, using interfaces and underlying ACE's CDR_Stream through which we basically insert the host machine's Endian Byte order and then "shove in" Standardized primitive data types into the "CDR Stream". Though I still am reading ACE's books, ACE is a framework for portable and robust C++ network programming.
