This page provides Friday Morning Help Session Videos relating to Project #5, Fall 2015. Thanks to Nilubon Bootchai for filming and making these videos available.

  1. Project #5 - Storage Management System

You may find it useful to take a quick look at the Project Statements, linked below, because this discussion centers on these projects, especially Project #5.

    • Project #5

This project focuses on the development of a Storage and Notification Management Subsystem (SMS) for a Software Collaboration Federation (SCF).

End product is an architectural document and two software prototypes.

      Project #4

This project is concerned with the development of a message passing communication system and performance testing of a remote instance of our NoSql database, developed in Project #2.

End product is a working remote NoSql database accessed through a message-passing system.

      Project #2, NoSqlDb blog

In this project we build a NoSql database that uses a key/value dictionary that holds elements with:
      • generic payload element
      • Metadata with name, description, time stamp, and child key collection

End product is a working NoSql database.

    • This video covers all but the first 5 minutes of the last help session that discusses developing an Architecture for the Storage Management Subsystem, part of a Software Collaboration Federation.

The help session covers answers to student questions on:
      • Grading and Architecture Document Structure (first 5 minutes)
      • Roles of the various parts of the Software Collaboration Federation
      • Role of Storage Management Subsystem
      • Message-passing communication
      • Virtual Display System operation
      • Critical issues
      • System policies and operations

This discussion provides a fairly linear walk through of many architectural ideas and performance issues for this interesting subsystem.
